More About Bert
I have worked with and trained dogs since my childhood in Scotland. I moved to England in 1966 and gained experience by working with security dogs and running a small training club in Hertfordshire. In 1987 I moved to Cornwall where I worked and assisted in the management of a boarding and training kennels. This led me to take up studies in canine behaviour and training.
In 1994 I moved to South London where I gave my time to a local rescue centre in order to help dogs that had behaviour problems. In 1995 I started School for Scoundrels. At this time I began to help people with mobility problems train their dogs to assist them in their day-to-day life. At the request of the MS Society, The Stroke Foundation, local schools and many other groups and societies I also gave short talks and demonstrations with various dogs.
In 2001 my wife and I decided we wanted to get back to the peace and quiet of the countryside so we moved once again, this time to beautiful Herefordshire. As well as running various training courses I work on behaviour problems that are referred to me by many local vets and past clients from all around the country.
School for Scoundrels is currently working with animalsearchuk to help reunite missing pets with their owners and our project is to train various dogs to find them.
I currently work two days a week at St Michael's Hospice as a care assistant and my dog Misha accompanies me. As well as running various training courses I work on behaviour problems that are referred to me by many local vets and others from around the country.
I am a member of The Association Of Pet Dog Trainers, a member of Professional Association of Applied Canine Trainers (P.A.A.C.T.) and am also working towards Kennel Club Accreditation. |
